Stena Recycling nominated for Volvo Car Corporation Award of Excellence
29 Nov 2011
Stena Recycling was again nominated when the Volvo Car Corporation carried out a global assessment of its subcontractors. Stena Recycling was one of 70 subcontractors nominated for the 2011 Volvo Car Corporation Award of Excellence.
“It’s very pleasing and excellent proof of our total commitment and partnership with Volvo Cars. It gives us the impetus to continue developing the market’s best recycling solutions,” comments Leif Gustafsson, CEO of Stena Recycling.
Leif describes the key to success as a combination of close work with customers, innovations and a strong environmental adaptation of the service.
“After many years of cooperation, we know Volvo Cars’ activities and processes well. It is especially pleasing that our delivery quality and precision have been assessed this time.”
One unique solution is train transportation of scrap from the Volvo Cars facility in Olofström. Stena Recycling uses its own trains, which depart every other day, replacing the equivalent of 4,400 lorry journeys every year. Reduced emissions and improved cost efficiency, as well as safety on public roads, are some of the results.
“Over the last year, we have also specifically invested in helping Volvo Cars to build an environmental building for production at Skövde – all to ensure effective, environmentally correct waste management.”
Stena Recycling provides Volvo Cars with a complete solution at all their facilities in Sweden. These services include internal waste management, recycling systems, transport, waste management and training.
